Port Royal: The Dice Game – Risk and Reward on the High Seas ⚓🎲

The Caribbean classic with pirate flair is back. Port Royal: The Dice Game by Alexander Pfister, from Pegasus Spiele, is a standalone push-your-luck dice game for 2 to 5 players aged 10 and up, in about 20 to 50 minutes.

You swap the original's cards for dice and pens, but the goal stays the same: hire the most capable crew. Each turn has two phases. First, the active player rolls both dice and fills the board with ships and ship wheels in different colours. You can roll as often as you like. But if a ship in a colour already on the board appears and your crew can't fend it off with their cutlasses, you end your turn empty-handed while the others fill their pockets. If you stop in time, everyone then takes turns using the ships and wheels: ships let you cross off spaces on your own game map to reach islands and hire new crew members with useful abilities, while ship wheels grant special effects. The first player to reach 20 victory points wins. The game has four independent chapters that gradually introduce new elements, with 100 game maps for each, so it is family friendly at the start and adds new challenges along the way.
