Aztec – Truth or Lie in the Cursed Temple 🗿💎

Like modern explorers, you have broken into an accursed Aztec temple. But when it is time to share the treasure, everyone wants the most jewels – and all tricks are allowed. Aztec by Stéphane Beaume, illustrated by Sabrina Tobal and published by Matagot, is a bluffing game for 3 to 6 players aged 10 and up.

The game is played over five rounds. Each round, you look at your next jewel card, which shows two to four jewels, and announce what is on it by taking jewels from the supply – blue, red or yellow. Tell the truth, or claim a little more? Then everyone places their character token next to one opponent's announcement: one side means "I believe you", the other "I accuse you of lying". Now the cards are revealed. Truth-tellers keep their jewels, but liars who are not caught may even draw an Artefact – while players who believed them receive black jewels. Get caught lying, though, and your accusers hand you their black jewels. At the end of each round, three curses go to the players with the most jewels of each colour, bringing even more black jewels. After five rounds, you score points for sets of jewels in your character's colour and for your Artefacts, and lose points for black jewels. The player with the most points wins.
