Carcassonne: Sheep & Shepherds – Grow Your Flock 🐑🐺

Animals and vineyards bring the landscape to life. Carcassonne: Sheep & Shepherds by Klaus-Jürgen Wrede and the Hans im Glück team is expansion #9 for Carcassonne in its 2025 edition – for players aged 7 and up, in about 40 minutes.

Instead of a normal meeple, you may place your shepherd on a field on the tile you just placed – and immediately grow his flock by drawing a token from the cloth bag. A flock token adds sheep next to your shepherd. But if you draw a wolf, your sheep run away: the tokens go back into the bag and your shepherd returns to you. Each time you continue your shepherd's field, you decide: grow the flock again, or herd it and score 1 point per sheep. Geese tiles next to your shepherd add a bonus when you herd, and vineyards give 3 extra points each when a neighbouring monastery or garden is scored. Shepherds on a connected field share one flock – and share the wolf's risk too. It is a push-your-luck twist that fits right into your Carcassonne games and can be combined with other expansions. Please note: this is an expansion – you need the Carcassonne base game.
