Canal Houses – Build Your Street Along the Canal 🏘️🌷

A light and charming card drafting game. In Canal Houses by Zach Hoekstra, illustrated by Jason Gamber and published by Gigamic, you build a street of typical canal houses along an Amsterdam canal – from the shop front at the bottom to a magnificent roof at the top.

Each turn, all players act at the same time. First draw a Store, Window or Roof card of your choice, then build one of the four cards in your hand – or discard it into your canal – and pass the rest to the player on your left. New Stores go to the left or right of your existing ones, and Window cards are stacked above them, showing cats, birds, flowerpots and flags. A Roof completes a house. Stores and Roofs score points when their house meets the conditions printed on them, such as an exact height or a certain number of cats and birds. Every flowerpot is worth a point, and the player with the largest connected group of one colour earns a bonus. When someone places their fourth Roof, they call out "Heel Mooi!" – Dutch for "very nice" – and the game ends after that turn.
