The bustling market in Nottingham is full of goods from all over the kingdom – and Prince John wants to make sure no contraband gets sold. In Sheriff of Nottingham – 2nd Edition from CMON, 3–6 players aged 14+ bluff and bribe for about 60 minutes.

Players take turns playing the Sheriff, while everyone else plays a Merchant trying to fill their market stall with the most valuable goods. Each Merchant secretly packs goods into their bag and tells the Sheriff what is inside. Most goods are entirely legal, but contraband such as pepper, mead, silk and crossbows earns far more – if you can sneak it through. The Sheriff can inspect any bag they want, but must be careful: if the Merchant was telling the truth, the Sheriff pays a penalty. If the Merchant lied, they pay instead and lose the goods they did not declare. The Sheriff is shrewd, but not above taking a bribe to look the other way, so every round turns into a negotiation. Because the Sheriff changes every round, what works on one player may not work on the next. At the end, the Merchant with the most valuable stall wins. This second edition has updated artwork and cleaned-up rules, and it includes the previously released expansions: a 6th Merchant, the Black Market for high-risk, high-reward play, and the Sheriff's Deputies.
