Thread Count – A Kitten on the Loose 🐱🧶

A playful kitten is chasing a ball of wool through the house, and the thread goes everywhere. Thread Count by Moritz Dressler, published by NSV in the pocket-sized MINNYS series, is a quick roll-and-write game for 2 to 6 players aged 8 and up, in about 5 to 10 minutes.

Each player has their own sheet. On every turn, the die is rolled and everyone draws their wool thread exactly that many spaces – in a straight line, although you may make one bend per turn. When your thread crosses an item, you collect it: socks, mice and paper aeroplanes are worth points, and complete sets earn even more. But be careful with the porcelain cups – if your thread tips one over, it costs you points at the end. If you reach the cat's paw, you earn a bonus, but your thread stops there. As soon as someone completes a set, a timer begins, and when it is full, the game ends. Then everyone counts their items, sets and bonuses, subtracts the broken cups, and the highest score wins. With its tiny format and quick rounds, Thread Count is a lovely filler for travel, cafés and breaks between bigger games.
