Mamma Mia! – Bake Pizzas from Memory 🍕🧑‍🍳

In this card game, you are pizza makers. You take orders from the waiters and ingredients from the supply, put them all together in the oven and bake. Mamma Mia! by Uwe Rosenberg, illustrated by Franz Vohwinkel and published by Abacusspiele, is for 2–5 players aged 8+, about 30 minutes, and was on the 1999 Spiel des Jahres recommendation list.

On your turn, you place at least one ingredient card from your hand face up on the oven – a shared discard pile –, announcing what you played. You may play several cards, but they must all be the same ingredient: pineapple, olive, pepper, mushroom or salami. Then you may add one order card, if you think its ingredients are already inside. The catch: nobody may look through the oven, so you have to remember what has been played. Finally, refill your hand to seven cards from the supply or from your own waiter stack. When the supply runs out, the oven is opened. The cards are turned over one by one in order, and every order whose ingredients have been baked before it is delivered. The owner may still add missing ingredients from their hand. Pizzas that fail go back to their owners for another try. Besides simple orders, every player also has special pizzas such as Pizza Bombastica, which needs at least 15 ingredients. After three rounds, whoever has delivered the most pizzas wins.
