Animal Poker – From Trainee to CEO 🦊💼

Animal Poker from HeidelBÄR Games is a fast card game about the unfair life of promotion and demotion at Animal Inc., where you can be CEO today and trainee tomorrow. It is for 4 to 8 players aged 8+, and you decide at the start how long to play, for example 20 or 60 minutes.

Despite the name, there are no poker hands and no betting here: it is all about getting rid of your cards and grabbing a great job. Each player gets a job card, everyone changes seats in order of rank, and the trainee deals the cards. Then workplace reality kicks in: superiors must give their lowest cards to their subordinates and get their highest cards in return. The starting player opens a round with one or more cards of the same number. Everyone after must play the same amount of cards, all of one number and higher than the previous play, or pass. Three freelancer cards act as wild cards. The highest play wins the right to start the next round. As soon as you play your last card, you take the highest job still available, and the last player holding cards becomes the trainee. When the time is up, whoever was CEO last wins.
