Carcassonne Big Box 2022 – The Complete Starter Set 🏰🧩

The modern classic in all its variety: the Carcassonne Big Box 2022 combines Klaus-Jürgen Wrede's base game – Spiel des Jahres 2001 – with eleven of its expansions. It is the starter set for anyone who wants to play Carcassonne with as much variety as possible. The edition (language) is chosen via the variant: English, German or Croatian-Serbian-Slovenian.

Turn by turn, you and your opponents lay landscape tiles. Long roads appear, mighty cities rise, monasteries take shape and the fields spread out around them. After placing a tile, you may put one of your meeples on it as a highwayman, knight, monk or farmer, and completed roads, cities and monasteries score points during the game, while farmers and unfinished features score at the end. The rulebook suggests starting with the base game, leaving the farmers out at first, and adding them in your second game. Then try the first expansion, Inns & Cathedrals, and the second, Traders & Builders. The River and The Abbot are small expansions you can add in any combination, and the mini expansions – The Flying Machines, The Messengers, The Ferries, The Gold Mines, Mage & Witch, The Robbers and The Crop Circles – add new twists once you have some experience. Combine everything for a long and demanding game. A cardboard inlay keeps the expansions sorted, and the tiles remain compatible with other Carcassonne games and expansions.
