Black Hole Buccaneers – Treasure in Orbit 🕳️🚀

Hundreds of years ago, humanity dumped its garbage into orbit around black holes – and now you are here to turn that trash into treasure. Black Hole Buccaneers by Peter Langkjær Møller, published by Pegasus Spiele, is a drafting card game for 3 to 6 players aged 10 and up, in about 30 to 45 minutes.

The game is played over three rounds, and in each round you travel to a different black hole. Each black hole shows how many Space Trash cards everyone draws and has its own threshold value. Every turn, choose one card from your hand, play it into your area and pass the rest to the next player. Each card has both a value and a weight – and if the total weight of your collection ends up above the black hole's final threshold, you are swallowed and score nothing that round. The threshold you see at the start is only a guideline, though, because it can still change by the end of the round. The cards come from seven categories – spacecraft, toys, time machine parts, shapeshifters, robots, artifacts and relics – and each works a little differently: toys are played face down, time machine parts gain value as a set, and robots lose value when played together. After three rounds, the richest buccaneer wins.
