Carcassonne: Siege & Defense – Hold the Fortress 🏰🛡️

The homeland is under attack from besiegers. Carcassonne: Siege & Defense by Klaus-Jürgen Wrede and the Hans im Glück team is expansion #7 for Carcassonne in its 2025 edition – for players aged 7 and up, in about 30 to 45 minutes.

Two fortress tiles show the fortress of Carcassonne and form the start of the landscape. The fortress has three defence posts – for knights, for travellers and for monks and abbots. Whenever you place a knight, traveller, monk or abbot, you may also send a standard meeple to the matching defence post; a farmer lets you send one to any post. Fill the last space in a row and you trigger a counter attack: everyone scores 3 points for each of their meeples at that post. But the besiegers advance too: tiles with siege symbols bring catapults to the defence posts, and a second catapult at the same post means an attack. Everyone with defenders there scores – and anyone without a defender must remove one of their matching meeples from the board. At the end of the game, each defence post holds one final counter attack. 12 extra standard meeples give you enough figures to build and defend. Please note: this is an expansion – you need the Carcassonne base game.
