Ticket to Ride: Northern Lights from Days of Wonder is a standalone Ticket to Ride game set in Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland. It is for 2 to 5 players aged 8+ and plays in about 30 to 60 minutes.

As in every Ticket to Ride, you collect coloured train cards and spend them to claim routes between cities, placing your plastic trains on the map. Your destination tickets show which cities you need to connect, and completed tickets score points at the end, while unfinished ones cost you. At the start you are dealt four tickets and keep at least two; later you can draw three and keep at least one. This edition brings its own twists. Gray routes on the map are ferries, which need a locomotive or a matching pair of cards for each locomotive symbol. Eleven bonus cards add extra goals, with four of them face up and shared by all players. In this version, three face-up locomotives in the card display are not discarded. The box contains 200 trains, 40 for each player, along with 114 train cards, 55 destination tickets, the bonus cards and scoring markers.
