Tzolk'in: The Mayan Calendar – Turn the Gears of Time ⚙️🗓️

A worker-placement classic where giant interlocking gears move your workers through time. Tzolk'in: The Mayan Calendar by Simone Luciani and Daniele Tascini, published by Czech Games Edition, is a strategy board game for 2 to 4 players aged 13 and up, in about 90 minutes.

At the centre of the board, a large gear – the Tzolk'in calendar – turns five smaller gears, each linked to a different Maya city and its actions. On your turn, you either place workers on the gears or take workers back. You don't take an action when you place a worker: you take it when you pick the worker up, and the longer a worker rides the gear, the better the actions it reaches. This makes timing the heart of the game. You harvest corn and gather wood, stone and gold, develop technologies, build buildings and monuments, and climb the temples to win the favour of the gods. At regular food days, you must feed your workers with corn or lose points. When the central gear has completed a full turn, the game ends and the player with the most points wins.
