Two players face off to decide the fate of Middle-earth. The Lord of the Rings: Duel for Middle-earth by Antoine Bauza and Bruno Cathala, illustrated by Vincent Dutrait and published by Repos Production, is a strategy game for exactly 2 players.

One player leads the Fellowship of the Ring, protecting the free peoples and seeking to destroy the One Ring. The other plays Sauron, trying to capture Frodo and Sam and overwhelm Middle-earth with his evil hordes. The game follows the saga in three chapters, one for each book: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King. There are three ways to win: lead Frodo and Sam to Mount Doom (or have the Nazgûl catch them), gather the support of six different peoples, or control the seven key regions with your units and fortresses. If no one has won by the end of chapter 3, the player present in the most regions wins.
