Kutná Hora: The City of Silver – Build a Medieval Boomtown 🏰⛏️

Silver has been discovered in central Bohemia, and a sleepy valley turns into a 14th-century boomtown. In Kutná Hora: The City of Silver from Czech Games Edition, you lead an ambitious family with influence in several guilds, expanding the mines and building the famous City of Silver. The game is for 2 to 4 players aged 13+ and takes about 30 minutes per player.

Each round, you play cards from a hand of six double-sided action cards and choose one action from each: mine, buy plots of land, gain permits, raise buildings for your guilds, collect income from your production or contribute to St. Barbara's Cathedral. What makes Kutná Hora special is its economy: it follows supply and demand. When the population grows, wood, food and beer become more expensive; when more ore is mined, ore gets cheaper and silver becomes more valuable; and every guild building you raise makes its commodity cheaper. So each decision changes the market for everyone at the table. The guilds are asymmetric, which makes the rounds highly interactive, and together all players work towards the cathedral, which grants stronger perks with each milestone. Balance your own goals with the growth of the city – sometimes the path to personal victory relies on the prosperity of the many.
