17 Diciassette – Don't Be the One Who Hits 17 🃏😈

In Italy, 17 is said to bring bad luck. 17 Diciassette by Munetoshi Harigaya, illustrated by Petra Eriksson and published by Helvetiq, is a bluffing card game for 2 to 6 players, in about 20 minutes.

On your turn, add one card to the row in the middle of the table – face up or face down – then draw a new card. Some values are visible, others stay hidden, and many cards have numbers on both sides. If you think the total has reached 17 or more, call "17!" before the next player's turn. Then the face-down cards are revealed: if the total is 17 or more, you win a victory token and the last player gets a penalty token; if not, it is the other way round. Special cards reverse the order of play, force the next player to play two cards, throw away the last card – or hide a trap that turns a "17!" call against the caller. The first player with 3 victory tokens wins.
