Quixo – Push, Turn and Line Up Five ❌⭕

Rules you can learn in thirty seconds. Quixo by Thierry Chapeau, published by Gigamic, is a simple but not simplistic wooden strategy game for 2 or 4 players aged 8 and up, in about 15 minutes.

The board holds 25 pyrographed wooden cubes in a 5 × 5 square, and at the start all of them show a blank face. On your turn, you take a cube from the outer ring – either a blank one or one already showing your symbol – turn it so your symbol faces up, and push it back into the board at one end of the row or column it came from, shifting the other cubes along. You may not put it back in the same spot you took it from. The first player to line up five cubes of their symbol horizontally, vertically or diagonally wins. But be careful: if your push creates a line of five of your opponent's symbol, you lose – even if you complete your own line at the same time. Quixo is one of the few strategy games that can be played by 2 or by 4 players: with four, two teams face each other, and the direction a cube points decides which teammate may play it. The cloth bag keeps all the cubes together.
