Pandemic: In the Lab – Sequence the Diseases, Test the Cures 🧪🦠

Pandemic: In the Lab, designed by Matt Leacock and Tom Lehmann (Z-Man Games), is an expansion for the cooperative game Pandemic. It adds a whole new way to discover cures. You need both the Pandemic base game and the On the Brink expansion to play.

New medical technology has been developed to treat the diseases spreading across the globe. In the Lab Challenge, you travel around the board collecting samples of each disease in the field: when you take the Treat Disease action, you can add sample cubes to one of the two lab dishes. Once enough samples are collected, you go into the lab, send the samples through the centrifuge and separator, and place them on sequence cards in the correct order. If a disease is characterized and sequenced, you are ready to test a cure. The box adds four new roles with matching pawns, revised Lab versions of two existing roles, three new events, cure vials and reference cards. There is also a solo mode with the help of a CDC card, and a team game for 4 or 6 players, in which rival teams race to earn awards and goals. New Virulent Strain epidemic cards, Mutation Worldwide Panic cards and purple disease cards add even more challenge. Z-Man describes it as an expansion for experienced Pandemic players.
