Targi – A Heated Duel for Dates, Salt and Pepper 🐪🏜️

A Targi is a member of the Tuareg, the semi-nomadic people of the Sahara who have controlled critical trade routes across the desert for centuries. In Targi by Andreas Steiger, published by Kosmos, two players lead rival Tuareg tribes and compete to build the most prosperous tribe.

Sixteen border cards frame the play area, with nine goods and tribe cards in the middle. Each round, the robber moves one border card further, and when it reaches a corner, there is a raid in which you lose goods, victory points or gold. Then you and your opponent take turns placing your three Targi figures on the border cards – but never on the robber's card, a raid corner, a card that is already occupied, or a card opposite one of your opponent's Targi. Where the lines from your Targi figures cross in the middle, you place your two tribe markers. Then everyone carries out the actions of the cards they occupy: collect dates, salt and pepper, earn gold, trade with merchants and take tribe cards into your hand or display. Everything lies open, so timing is the real challenge. The game ends when one player has 12 tribe cards in their display or the robber has circled the play area once, and the player with the most victory points wins.
