Lumicora – Build a Glowing Coral Reef 🐠🪸

The sea shines in colourful hues, as luminescent organisms bathe the coral reef in breathtaking light. Lumicora by Rita Modl, published by Deep Print Games, is a three-dimensional tile-laying game for 2 to 4 players aged 10 and up, in about 40 to 60 minutes.

Coral reefs have greatly decreased in recent decades – and in Lumicora, you are responsible for rebuilding one of these vital habitats. The game lasts 10 rounds. On your turn, you place one Lumino from your personal display into the shared Atoll, then choose an action: take limestone, take a Lumino from your display, or take one to three Luminos of a single other colour from the Atoll. Then you place the new tiles in your reef. Each Lumino must touch a coral of the same colour, and you can build upwards onto existing Luminos to create higher levels. Placing tiles on water spaces costs limestone, and a tile you can't place goes back into the bag and costs a victory point. In the scoring phases, you score your four coral types, and used scoring tiles turn into jellyfish that let you swap Luminos later. Double-sided reef boards and score boards add variety.
