Anansi – Keeper of the Stories 🕷️🃏

Anansi the spider once wanted to own all the stories in the world – until he realised that true wisdom comes from sharing them. Anansi by Cyril Blondel and Jim Dratwa, published by HeidelBÄR Games, is a trick-taking card game for 3 to 5 players aged 10 and up, in about 30 minutes.

The game is played over three rounds. When a trick is led, you either follow suit as usual – or you recruit listeners instead: you lay one of your cards sideways in front of you and take as many listener cards as it shows. After the trick, that card joins the trump display, and the suit with the most cards there becomes the new trump – so trump can change during the round. Every trick you win becomes a story. During the round you can inspire your listeners by placing one on each of your stories. At the end of the round, only players who have inspired all their listeners score them, and if your number of listeners exactly matches your number of stories, you also earn a trickster bonus worth 2, 4 or 7 points depending on the round. After three rounds, the player with the most points wins. It is a fresh twist on trick-taking, where winning too many or too few tricks can both cost you.
