The Game: Backwards – Say It, Spell It, Think It in Reverse 🔁😂

All of the questions and challenges in this game are incredibly easy – if you do them forwards. In The Game: Backwards from Format Games, everything happens in reverse. A team party game for 4–10 players aged 12+.

At the start, each team chooses a secret five-letter word, for example B-R-E-A-D, writes it backwards on its Backwards Board and covers the letters with five mystery cards. Then the race begins. Each team has thirty seconds to whizz through as many backwards clues as possible, using five different types of clue card. When the time is up, the team counts its correct answers and ticks them off in the circles on its Backwards Board. As soon as a team has ticked off three circles, it may guess a letter on the rival team's board. If the letter is in the other team's word, that team has to reveal it by removing the mystery card. The first team to guess the rival team's secret word correctly – and say it forwards – wins. But be careful: after a wrong guess, the opposing team may remove any mystery card from your board. It sounds simple, but thinking backwards under time pressure quickly turns into a lot of laughter.
