Settlers of America – Trails Become Rails 🚂🤠

The 19th century has arrived, and America is expanding west. Catan Histories: Settlers of America – Trails to Rails by Klaus Teuber, published by Catan Studio, is a standalone Catan game for 3 to 4 players aged 14 and up, in about 90 to 150 minutes.

The board shows a map of the United States, divided into the familiar hexes of pasture, hills, fields, forest and mountains that produce cattle, coal, grain, lumber and ore. You start with three cities in the east and send wagon trains of settlers west. Settlers move from intersection to intersection using grain, and when one stops on an empty city site, it founds a new city there. To connect the growing towns, you build rails – and then trains that run along them, powered by coal. A new element is gold: if none of your cities produce on a roll, you receive gold instead, and you can use it to buy resources or to run your trains on other players' tracks. As the frontier moves west, the old regions in the east are used up and stop producing, so you must keep expanding. Your goal is to deliver your goods by train to your opponents' cities: the first to deliver 8 goods (10 in a 3-player game) wins. No base game is needed – everything is in the box.
