Potion Explosion – Make the Ingredients Explode 🧪💥

Potion Explosion by Stefano Castelli, Andrea Crespi and Lorenzo Silva is a potion-brewing game from Horrible Guild. You are students in your final year at the Horribilorum Sorcery Academy, and the final exam is all about potions – for 2 to 4 players.

The heart of the game is a dispenser full of coloured marbles. On your turn, you take one marble from the dispenser. The marbles above it roll down, and if marbles of the same colour collide, they explode – and you take them too. You place the marbles on your potion tiles, each recipe needing between 4 and 7 ingredients of the right colours. A completed potion is worth points and can be drunk once for a magical power – for example to trigger new explosions. Complete 3 potions of the same kind or 5 of different kinds, and you earn a skill token worth extra points. If you are stuck, a Little Help token lets you take any marble you need, at the cost of a few points. When enough skill tokens have been handed out, the exam ends and the player with the most points wins. Before each game you pick 6 of the 8 kinds of potions, so the powers change from game to game. Available as two variants: the English Edition or the German Edition – choose via the variant.
