Take your strategy skills on the move with Abalone Go from Zygomatic, the portable version of the classic marble-pushing game by Laurent Lévy and Michel Lalet. For 2 players aged 7+, about 20 minutes.

Each player has 14 marbles, one black and one white, starting on opposite sides of the hexagonal board. Black moves first, then players take turns. On your turn you move one, two or three of your marbles that are lined up next to each other, one space in any direction – either in line or sideways. The key move is the sumito: when your marbles line up against fewer of your opponent's marbles, you can push them, as long as there is an empty space or the edge of the board behind them. Push a marble over the edge and it is out of the game. Equal numbers cannot push each other, so a solid line is a strong defence. The first player to push six of the opponent's marbles off the board wins. The rules take minutes to learn, but every game is a duel of positioning, timing and planning ahead. Designed for travel, this compact edition has a secure lid that lets you save your progress and continue later. The box contains 14 black marbles, 14 white marbles, a board with lid and the rulebook.
