In the 2400s, mankind begins to terraform the planet Mars. Terraforming Mars by Jacob Fryxelius is a strategy board game from Stronghold Games for 1–5 players, in about 90–120 minutes.

Giant corporations, sponsored by the World Government on Earth, initiate huge projects to raise the temperature, the oxygen level and the ocean coverage until the environment is habitable. You play one of those corporations and work together in the terraforming process – but you compete for prestige, which is awarded not only for your contribution to the terraforming, but also for advancing human infrastructure throughout the solar system, earning awards and achieving milestones. Each round is called a generation. You buy project cards from over two hundred different ones – from introducing plant life or animals and hurling asteroids at the surface to building cities and mining the moons of Jupiter. Cards give immediate bonuses or increase your production of MegaCredits, steel, titanium, plants, energy and heat. Your Terraform Rating rises every time you raise one of the three global parameters and is the basis of both your income and your score. On the board, you compete for the places for your city, ocean and greenery tiles. When temperature, oxygen and oceans have all reached their goal, the game ends after that generation.
