Startups – Believe in Your Future 📈🦄

There are six companies that will change the world as we know it – and you can be part of their success as an investor. Startups by Jun Sasaki, published by Oink Games in 2017, is a card game for 3–7 players aged 10+, playing in about 20 minutes.

Every player takes the role of an investor and tries to become the biggest shareholder in at least one of the six startup companies. Only the player with the most cards of a company gets money out of it at the end, so you need to watch your rivals' moves carefully and read their next steps. Use your capital and your three hidden cards to outplay them. Startups is the updated version of an earlier Oink game that won second prize at Game Market Tokyo in 2015. The rules have been upgraded, the design refreshed and the player count extended. New elements such as the market and the Anti-Monopoly Chip add depth, while the rules stay as simple as before. You need some luck, but also careful thinking and analysis of the other players. The logos of the six startups were designed by Kentaro 'ANI' Fujimoto, a well-known typographer in Japan – it's fun to talk about what kind of company might stand behind each one. Like other Oink games, it comes in a compact box that fits in a bag.
