Catan: Rise of the Inkas – Tribes Rise, Tribes Fall 🏔️🦙

Manage the rise and decline of civilisations in coastal and mountain Peru across three historic eras. Catan Histories: Rise of the Inkas by Klaus and Benjamin Teuber is a stand-alone Catan game for 3–4 players aged 12+, taking about 90 minutes – no base game needed.

Development works much like in classic Catan: build roads and settlements, gain development cards and use the robber to hinder your opponents. But eventually your early tribe reaches its peak and has to make way for a new one. Twice during the game, you put your tribe into decline: you remove its roads from the board and cover its settlements with thickets. Then you place a new settlement elsewhere and continue with your next tribe. Settlements in decline can no longer grow into cities and you cannot build roads from them – they can even be built over by your opponents' tribes. As long as they stay on the board, though, they keep producing resources for you. Once you establish your third tribe, you are in the end game: be the first to fully develop it and you usher in the rise of the Inkan Empire. Familiar rules get fresh twists – the Longest Trade Road and Mightiest Combat Arts give gameplay advantages instead of points, and fish, cocoa and feathers from the sea and jungle open up a new way of trading.
