Tucano – Much More Than Five Fruits a Day 🍍🦜

Tucano from Helvetiq is a quick card game by Théo Rivière, illustrated by Odile Sageat. It is for 2 to 4 players aged 6+ and a game takes about 15 minutes.

The tropical forest is full of tasty fruit, but not every fruit is good for you. Three face-up columns of cards lie on the table. On your turn, you pick one column and take all of its cards, then add one card from the draw pile to each column, so the choices keep changing. Fruit cards score in sets, and the number of points depends on how many of that fruit you collect: one papaya may cost you points, while a full set can be worth a lot. Some fruits work differently and score by majority: if you have more of them than anyone else, you gain a point per card, otherwise you lose a point per card. Toucan cards are used right away. They let you give a card to another player, take a face-up card from someone, or flip your own fruit cards face down to protect them. A joker can join any set. The game ends when only one column is left, and the player with the most points wins.
