All you wanted was a quiet evening at home, but EXIT: The Sinister Mansion has other plans! In this escape room game from Kosmos (Thames & Kosmos), 1–4 players aged 12+ must work together to crack every puzzle inside a mysterious house next door.

It begins with a note in your mailbox. It comes from a nameless neighbour living in the supposedly unoccupied, run-down mansion next door, asking you to feed his cat. You step inside and find that the interior is elegant, without a speck of dust. Then the door slams shut behind you. You discover a guestbook and a disk, and you realise you must solve all the puzzles before your creepy host returns. The game uses riddle, answer and help cards together with a decoder disk. When you think you have solved a riddle, you enter the code on the disk and check the matching answer card to see whether you are right. If you get stuck, the help cards offer clues step by step. Among the components you will also find three strange items, a sealed poster and the guestbook, which may hold hints. As with every EXIT game, the materials are meant to be marked, folded and torn, so it can be solved only once. Thames & Kosmos rates the difficulty at 3 of 5. The free Kosmos Helper App offers a tutorial, a soundtrack and a timer.
