That Escalated Quickly from Exploding Kittens is a cooperative party game for 2–8 players aged 10+, made in collaboration with Cocktail Games and based on their game Top Ten. A round takes about 15 minutes.

One player reads out a question – for example, what you would say to a neighbour whose dog barks all night. Everyone else secretly gets a number from 1 to 10 and answers the question with an intensity that matches their number. A 1 might be a polite smile, while a 10 really does escalate quickly. Then the reader has to sort all the answers from the mildest to the wildest, based only on what was said. If the order is correct, everyone wins together. Because you play as a team, nobody is left behind, and the funniest moments often come from answers that land somewhere unexpected on the scale. You learn a lot about how your friends think – and how differently a 6 can sound from one person to the next. The rules are explained in a minute, so it is a good choice for parties, family evenings and groups who do not play board games often.
