Patchwork – Sew the Most Beautiful Quilt 🧵🧩

Patchwork is the art of combining fabric scraps into a beautiful quilt. In Patchwork by Uwe Rosenberg, published by Lookout Games in 2014, two players aged 8+ compete to build the most aesthetic – and highest-scoring – quilt in about 30 minutes.

Patches are laid out in a circle around the time board. On your turn, you buy one of the three patches just ahead of the neutral token with buttons, the game's currency, and fit it onto your 9×9 player board. Every patch costs buttons and time: your time stone moves forward on the time board by the patch's time value. Whoever is furthest behind on the time track takes the next turn, so a cheap patch can mean taking several turns in a row. Instead of buying, you can also move your time stone ahead of your opponent and collect a button for each space. Patches showing buttons earn you income whenever you pass a button on the time track, and the special single-square leather patches go to the first player to reach them. The first to fill a 7×7 area gets a bonus tile. At the end, you score your buttons, minus two for each empty square on your board.
