Whale to Look – Where Will the Whale Appear? 🐋🔍

A bay full of huge whales and orcas is popular with whale-watching tourists – and is becoming overrun with tour companies. Whale to Look from Oink Games is a game of hidden information for 2–5 players aged 9+, designed by Jun Sasaki together with Bruno Faidutti.

You run one of these tour companies and must decide where to send out your boats to keep your tourists happy. The fish cards around each spot provide the clues, but there is no time to investigate them all. The whale goes to areas with lots of fish, while the orca goes to areas with few fish – so you need the guts to send out your boats and also use clues from where your rivals place theirs. If you dilly-dally too long, a rival company may get there first, and sometimes, when your own investigation is not enough, following a rival is the smart move. But there will be times when you think you have it all figured out – and it turns out you were wrong all along. In round 2, trending cards add an extra scoring condition, for example bonus points for seeing a whale, or for orca-watching. Luck, strategy and intuition flow into each other, and the small box holds over 100 pieces, including wooden boats that carry tourist pieces.
