Rafter Five – Build the Raft, Keep Your Balance 🪵⚖️

Rafter Five is the first balance game from Oink Games, designed by Jun Sasaki and Mashiu, for 1–6 players aged 7+. A game takes about 20 minutes, and it was named a 2025 Good Toy.

Five differently shaped wooden rafters form the start of the raft. On your turn, lift one rafter, lay a lumber card so that it overlaps, put the rafter back on top and then place one of your treasure chests on the raft. Every card makes the raft bigger – and a little more wobbly. If one of your own chests falls off, that is no problem. But if you knock off an opponent's chest, it goes into your penalty area, and whoever collects five of them loses. So you need a steady hand, a good eye for balance and a bit of mischief, because a well-placed chest can make the next move very tricky for your neighbour. For more of a challenge, the advanced rules ask you to avoid the nails and joints printed on the cards. Rules for a single player are included too, so you can also practise your balance alone. If you like the game, an online version is available for Nintendo Switch, Steam, iOS and Android. As with all Oink games, everything comes in a compact box.
