Detective: A Modern Crime Board Game – Antares Is Hiring 🕵️💻

A fully cooperative, immersive detective experience. In Detective: A Modern Crime Board Game by Ignacy Trzewiczek, Przemysław Rymer and Jakub Łapot, published by Portal Games, 1 to 5 players aged 16 and up join the Antares National Investigation Agency, with sessions of about 120 to 180 minutes.

You tackle five different cases and solve them in order, each one affecting the next, so together they form a campaign titled "The Mystery of the Golden Watch". It begins with the case "A Man with a Golden Watch": the State Department wants to know whether a Nazi war criminal was hiding in the US after World War II. Lead cards represent crime scenes, witnesses and evidence – each case has exactly 35 of them, and since time is short you will draw only about twenty per case. All players share Skill, Stress and Authority tokens and a time marker, and you examine every clue together. The online Antares Database holds police, FBI, military and federal intelligence records, and you are free to break the fourth wall and use Google Maps, Wikipedia or any other source. At the end of each case, you answer questions to earn victory points. The game is rules-light: your most powerful tools are your team, your imagination and your own mind. The box holds 175 lead cards, a board, 5 character tiles, a casebook and tokens.
