Distant Suns – Map the Galaxy, Hex by Hex 🌌🚀

A clever Choose & Write game that is particularly innovative in its mechanics. Distant Suns by Gary Kim and Yeon-min Jung, illustrated by Vincent Dutrait, is a game from IELLO for 2–4 players aged 10 and up, in about 25 minutes.

Players draw exploration zones, represented by hexagonal shapes, on their own sheet. But beware: in addition to freely choosing the shape of their own exploration zone, the player whose turn it is also chooses the shape their opponents will draw. All players must optimise where they draw their shapes to obtain useful in-game bonuses – and end-of-game points. So you pick the shape that is most helpful for your own exploration and impose the most unfavourable one on your opponents to spoil their scoring chances. But pushing other explorers into a corner can backfire: they may still get the better of you if they manage to use a space you had misjudged. With many possible strategies for scoring points, Distant Suns is fast-paced, tactical and addictive, and its quick games – no longer than thirty minutes – will have you calling for a rematch.
