Sandbag – Float Higher by Taking Less 🎈🃏

Rise above your rivals at a hot-air balloon festival in Sandbag from Bézier Games! This highly interactive trick-taking game for 3–6 players turns the genre around: you want to avoid tricks, manipulate trump and reconfigure your hand. It is for ages 10+ and takes about 30 minutes.

The game is played over three rounds, and the player with the lowest total score at the end wins. At the start of each round, the cards are dealt and every player configures a basket with two face-up cards. The trump suit is the colour that appears most often among all players' face-up basket cards. On each trick you either play a card from your hand, play your sandbag to avoid winning the trick, or swap in and play one of your opponents' face-up basket cards. Because basket cards keep changing hands and being replaced by face-down cards, the trump suit can shift during a round, sometimes more than once. Balloon cards you take count against you, but rocket cards are worth negative points, so winning a trick that contains a rocket is good news. The deck holds five balloon suits numbered 0 to 10 and rocket cards worth –5 or –7, depending on the number of players. Sandbag really shines at higher player counts, where the scramble for rockets and the shifting trump keep everyone engaged.
