The Hanging Gardens – Build a Garden for a King 🌺🏛

The Hanging Gardens from Gigamic is a card-placement game by Grégory Grard and Matthieu Verdier, with art by Miguel Coimbra. It is for 1 to 5 players aged 10+ and plays in about 30 minutes.

Each of you is a royal gardener competing to build the most beautiful garden for King Nebuchadnezzar II over four rounds. On your turn, you place one of your Gardeners on an action space and take a Garden card from that column. Some cards are free, while others cost tools or coins. You build your garden as a pyramid, starting with five cards in the bottom row, with fewer cards on each level above, and every higher card must rest on two cards below it. The cards show irrigation canals, flowers, trees, animals and visitors. After taking a card, you may spend coins on Enhancement tiles that turn empty arches into flowerbeds, animal habitats or trees, and you can claim a Royal Objective with one of your markers. At the end, you score for flowers, trees and animals, for visitors, for objectives and for how well your water system matches your Irrigation card. Each game uses four of the ten Objective tiles, and a set of Automaton cards lets you play solo.
