Nunatak – Temple of Ice – Build the Temple, Win the Points 🧊🏔️

A nunatak is a rock or mountain peak sticking out of the ice. But what if it is not a mountain at all, but the tip of a prehistoric temple in the eternal ice? In Nunatak – Temple of Ice by Kane Klenko, illustrated by Kwanchai Moriya and published by Kosmos, 1 to 4 players aged 10 and up build such a temple from ice blocks.

You build the temple together, but you play against each other. On your turn you take one building card from the open display and sort it by type in front of you. Then you place one of your ice blocks on a floor tile showing the symbol of that card. Placing a block on a higher level scores a point for each of your blocks supporting it from below. Completing a row or column moves you up the Architect track, and completing a 2×2 square gives points for the majority of blocks in it. The temple grows level by level until the final level is complete. At the end, whoever has the most blocks on the outer edge earns bonus points and places the temple top, and your collected building cards score in different ways. With its 3D ice-look pieces, Nunatak is a family game with simple turns and a clever scoring system that also appeals to experienced players, and it includes a solo mode.
