Quixo Mini – Push and Line Up Five ❌⭕

A clever twist on noughts and crosses in a travel-friendly size. Quixo Mini by Thierry Chapeau, published by Gigamic, is an abstract strategy game for 2 or 4 players aged 8 and up, in about 15 minutes.

The board holds 25 wooden cubes in a 5×5 grid. At the start, all cubes show a blank face. On your turn, you take a cube from the outer edge of the grid – either a blank one or one that already shows your symbol, but never one of your opponent's. You turn it so that your symbol is on top, and then push it back into the grid at the end of the same row or column, shifting the other cubes along. Your aim is to make a line of five cubes with your symbol – horizontally, vertically or diagonally. But be careful: every push moves other cubes too, and if you create a line of five for your opponent, you lose, even if you complete your own line at the same time. With 4 players, you play in two teams. The rules take a minute to learn, while each game is a tense battle of foresight, and the compact box with its wooden pieces is easy to take along on holiday.
