Pandemic: State of Emergency – Saving the World Just Got Harder 🚨🦠

Pandemic: State of Emergency by Matt Leacock and Tom Lehmann (Z-Man Games) is the third expansion for the cooperative game Pandemic. It introduces three modules that give you new ways to play and more control over each game's difficulty. You need the Pandemic base game to play.

Hinterlands Challenge: disease strains jump from animals to humans. Two new boards show four locations where the diseases originate, and you travel there to trace them to their source – act too slowly, and they spread to nearby cities and become even harder to contain. Superbug Challenge: a fifth disease appears that cannot be treated. Instead, you work together to produce vaccine doses in vaccine factories and eradicate the superbug before it is too late. Emergency Event Challenge: Emergency Event cards are shuffled into the player deck, with nasty, unpredictable effects such as restricting movement or reducing maximum hand size – a challenge for seasoned players. If the diseases overwhelm you too often, the new quarantine tokens help: use an action to quarantine a city and prevent the next two attempts to place disease cubes there or cause an outbreak. The box also adds five new roles with pawns and seven new event cards, so you can fine-tune each game, easier or harder.
