Mists over Carcassonne – Pacify the Ghosts Together 👻🏰

Mists over Carcassonne is a Carcassonne game by Klaus-Jürgen Wrede and, according to its rules, the first cooperative version of the classic tile-laying game. It is for 1 to 5 players aged 8+.

Dense mist covers Carcassonne, and the restless souls of the Cathars are rising. All players work together against the game. On your turn, you draw a land tile and add it to the growing landscape, matching roads, cities and fields as in classic Carcassonne. You may then place one meeple on the tile, and completed roads, cities and other features score points for the whole team. Most tiles also show mist, and placing one brings new ghosts onto the board. Your task is to reach the goal score before the tiles run out, while keeping the ghosts under control: if too many ghosts appear, or you cannot draw any more tiles, you all lose. The game is divided into six levels that you play through one after another. Later levels add castles, cemeteries, hounds and a haunted cemetery, so the challenge grows as you learn. The box contains 60 land tiles, a new starting tile, 30 guard meeples, 15 ghosts, a scoring track and 2 hounds.
