Critical: Foundation – The Agency Needs You 🕶️🧬

2035: huge multinational corporations hold the power, and nanotechnology is part of daily life. To deal with these new threats, the Icarus Agency was formed. Critical: Foundation – Season 1 by Yohan Lemonnier and Kristoff Valla, published by Gigamic, is a roleplaying game for 2–5 players aged 14+, built like a TV series with episodes of about 30 minutes.

Do you like the idea of roleplaying games but haven't had the chance to play one? Or are you a fan who is short on time? Critical draws you into an adventure in a matter of minutes. One player takes the role of the Game Master, who directs the story from behind the Game Master's screen, with the rules printed on the inside. The others play agents of the Icarus Agency, choosing one of four ready-made characters – the Analyst, the Coder, the Scientist or the Military – and a background with matching equipment. Character creation takes moments: pick a side of the card, a background, and write your name on a name card. The rules are simple: roll the dice against a difficulty level, with bonuses from your specialisation, background and equipment. Season 1 contains nine episodes that form a near-future spy-action story, with investigation, action and roleplay scenes illustrated on episode cards. Play one episode before a longer game, or several in a row, and find out what happens next.
