Intarsia – Inlay the Finest Ornaments 🪵✨

For countless years, the Café de Paris has offered moments of carefree relaxation in the middle of a bustling city. Now it urgently needs renovation, and you have been asked to restore its valuable parquet floor with stylish intarsias. In Intarsia by Michael Kiesling, illustrated by Lukas Siegmon and published by Deep Print Games, you first have to prove in a contest that you understand the craft better than your competitors.

Each player has a floor board on which they build coloured ornaments from wooden elements: frames, midsections, cores and tables, plus connectors that open up new spaces. To place wood, you pay with material cards in the colour of the ornament. The more valuable ornaments you build and the better progress you make, the more you can claim new tool tiles from the tool board – and tools bring points and bonuses. After each of the three rounds, completed ornaments and progress are scored on the score board. Whoever has gained the most points after three rounds wins the contest and secures the contract for the intricate inlay work. The floor boards are double-sided: start with the A side for your first game, then try the B side with its own rules. With 150 wooden elements, the finished floors look beautiful on the table – and planning which ornament to complete next keeps every turn interesting.
