Keltis: The Card Game – Long Rows, Big Points 🍀🃏

Keltis as a compact card game. Keltis: The Card Game by Reiner Knizia, published by Kosmos in 2009, is for 2–4 players aged 8+, playing in about 20 minutes.

Each player starts with eight cards in hand, drawn from a deck of number cards in five colours, grey point cards and two finishing cards per colour. Nine orange wishing-stone cards, numbered 1 to 9, lie face up in the middle of the table. On your turn, you have three options. Lay out a coloured card in front of you: as in the board game, you build one row per colour, in either rising or falling order. Discard one card onto its colour's discard pile. Or discard two cards of the same value and take the matching wishing stone, if it is still available. Grey point cards are either collected separately or placed on a number card of the same value, where they count towards that colour's row. Then refill your hand to eight. Finishing cards close a row – no more number cards can be added after them. The game ends once five rows have at least one finishing card or the deck runs out; then everyone may lay out two more cards before scoring. The longer a row, the more points it is worth; wishing stones score too, and collecting none costs you points.
