Cockroach Salad – Truly Tongue-Twisting 🥬🪳

There's no time for hesitation in this turbulent reaction game. Cockroach Salad by Jacques Zeimet, from Drei Magier Spiele, is a fast card game for 2 to 6 players aged 6 and up – easy to understand, quick to play and small enough to take anywhere.

Together, the players make a mixed salad as fast as they can by playing their vegetable cards one after another – tomato, lettuce, cauliflower or pepper. The catch: you must name each vegetable as quickly as you play it, without slipping up. All 128 cards are shuffled and dealt evenly, and the youngest player starts by flipping the top card of their pile into the middle and naming the vegetable on it. You must always tell the truth – except when your vegetable matches the last card played, or matches what the previous player just said. Then you have to lie and call out a different vegetable. Taboo vegetable cards with a huge cockroach make things even trickier: whoever flips one shouts “Cockroach!”, and that vegetable may not be named while the card is visible. Play then switches to a second pile until the next cockroach appears. If you stumble, say the wrong word or hesitate too long, you must pick up all the cards from the middle. The first player to get rid of all their cards wins. The rules come in English, German, French and Italian.
