Tokaido – A Journey Along the Famed Road 🗾🌸

In Tokaido, designed by Antoine Bauza with art by Naïade, you are a traveller in ancient Japan following the prestigious Tokaido, the road between Kyoto and Edo (Tokyo). This Stonemaier Games edition plays with 1 to 5 players and takes about 45 minutes.

Your goal is a rich and fulfilling journey. Pass through magnificent countryside, taste delicious culinary specialties, purchase souvenirs, enjoy the hot springs and have unforgettable encounters along the way. Tokaido uses a time track: the active player is always the traveller furthest behind on the road. On your turn, you move your character as far forward as you like, with required stops at the inns, and collect the benefits of the space you stop on. Rushing ahead may grab a spot first, but taking your time lets you visit more places, so every move is a small decision about pace. The Stonemaier edition keeps the gameplay and art the same and stays compatible with existing Tokaido expansions. It adds an Automa solo mode, panorama cards upgraded to 310 gsm card, a revised rulebook for clarity, text on some cards and the traveller tiles to accompany the icons, and reference cards for each player explaining the locations. Setup takes about 5 minutes.
